DRUMS · PERCUSSION · PRODUCTION
I play drums.
I started around fourth grade. Spent a while away. Found my way back when the world shut down. Started to produce along the way.
Back behind a kit, in the basement.
June 2020. My drums were out of storage. I wanted to play more, but it was too loud with everyone home. I bought an entry-level electronic kit. Curbside pickup, because I didn't want to wait for shipping.
Then I kept tweaking. Bigger snare. Better kick. Eventually a better module.
I played along with drumless tracks. Recorded it. Then I started pulling the drums out of live recordings and playing along. Learned to mix and master in the process.
It was a blast, but nobody responded when I messed with it a little.

I played a few gigs backing an acoustic act. Experimented with my kit. A five-gallon bucket with a snap-on head for a snare. An old floor tom as a kick. Bongos and a conga for toms.
The acoustic act didn't work out, but the kit did. I used it to back up Hunty Lytes for a bit. We played a few shows. He wrote a few new tunes in the process. I recorded and mastered them into the EP laugh at the joke. Played on tracks 2, 3, and 4.
Back in the flow again.

Been getting the chance to play more with musicians who are open to exploring. Seeing where it goes.
My home for that was always West Water Street. Nothing set in stone. Just the next beat, the next note.
I walked away for a couple of decades. In 2025 I finally joined them for Labor Day, the 24th year they'd been getting together. Got to play with them again, along with a bunch of awesome musicians.
I recorded the sessions and spent a couple of months mastering. You can listen at LDE Music.
